can diabetic blindness be cured

Diabetic retinopathy is a general term for all disorders of the retina caused by diabetes. There are two major types of retinopathy: nonproliferative and proliferative. In nonproliferative retinopathy, the most common form of retinopathy, capillaries in the back of the eye balloon and form pouches. Nonproliferative retinopathy can move through three stages (mild, moderate, and severe), as more and more blood vessels become blocked.
Diabetic retinopathy blindness can be cured
The most prevalent cause of vision loss in those with diabetes is diabetic macular edema, in which the blood vessels of the eyes leak and the retina swells, which then leads to difficulty focusing and blurry vision. According to DiabetesInControl.com, approximately 14 percent of those with diabetes have diabetic macular edema, and 25 percent of those experience loss of vision in three years. Although nothing can cure diabetic blindness 100 percent, there are ways to treat and prevent it.
Leaking of retinal blood vessels in advanced or long-term diabetes affects the macula or retina and is referred as diabetic retinopathy, the number one cause of blindness among the 40 to 60 years working age group. The macula is a thin layer of nerve cells near the centre of retina, that lines inside of the eyeball, detect light and send signals to the brain.
Due to leaking of blood vessels, the vision gets blurred because of disturbance of macula. The leakage is sealed with the help of laser shots which not only plug the leakage, but also destroy new blood vessel growth. Scatter laser treatment is used for proliferative retinopathy (a disease of the small blood vessels of the eye). During treatment, 1,000 to 2,000 laser burns are placed in the retina area in order to shrink the abnormal blood vessels. Three or more total laser sessions are usually required for the best success in preserving vision, although a patient can lose some side vision and experience a tiny reduction in light and color vision.
In preventing diabetic vision loss, unless macular edema is present, treatment is not required during the first three stages of diabetic retinopathy. The best ways to prevent blindness include controlling blood sugar levels, maintaining healthy blood cholesterol levels and lowering high blood pressure. It is easier to prevent a medical condition, such as diabetic blindness, than it is to treat it.
Lucentis (ranibizumab) could treat diabetic blindness, says new study. Lucentis (ranibizumab) may come as new treatment for vision loss due to diabetes, according to the findings from a new study. The study involving 691 patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) found that 50 percent of those who received Lucentis eye injections, plus laser treatment had substantial improvement in vision one year after treatment, compared with 28 percent of patients who received laser treatment alone.
Lucentis is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at a dose of 0.5 mg monthly by intravitreal injection.
ELEOTIN stimulates and restores the basic health of the pancreas . It increases the healthy regeneration of ß (beta) cells in the pancreas and increases the secretion of insulin from the pancreas. ELEOTIN improves the functioning of insulin receptors . It up-regulates or improves the activity levels of insulin receptors in muscle and liver cells. Thus, ELEOTIN stimulates the binding between insulin and the insulin receptors. Simply put, ELEOTIN improves the efficiency with which the body uses the insulin.
ELEOTIN is not a cure for diabetes under this definition since it does not remove the causes of diabetes and its symptoms such as blindness, late stage neuropathy, kidney failure, etc. It is known, however, that vision is often improved substantially and that neuropathy, kidney failure and other related complications are greatly helped by ELEOTIN…ELEOTIN : Natural Cures for Diabetes and Obesity
