Natural Vitamin E Better Absorbed And Retained

The term vitamin E describes a family of 8 antioxidants, 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. alpha-tocopherol (a-tocopherol) is the only form of vitamin E that is actively maintained in the human body and is therefore, the form of vitamin E found in the largest quantities in the blood and tissue. Unlike other vitamins, it turns our body absorption of vitamin E is very dependent on the type of vitamin E.
the natural vitamin E to defend the nervous system, herefore, natural vitamin E (the d form) has greater benefit than the synthetic (dl)
Researchers have long known that natural vitamin E, milligram for milligram, is about 36 percent more potent than the synthetic form of the vitamin. In fact, the “international unit,” or IU, standard was developed to compensate for these differences. Vitamin E is a natural two-fold more easily absorbed than vitamin E synthetic (artificial).
How to choose natural vitamin E for better benefits?
Check the label
D-alpha tocopherol is the vitamin E naturally, whereas in tocoherol-alpha vitamin E is synthetic. Robert Acuff Ph.D., head Center for Nutrition Research at East Tennessee State University has tips easy to remember the different natural and synthetic. “If the written DL, just remember do not like (not like the synthetic, artificial).”
Better to choose a mix
Choose vitamin E with the components of d-tocopherol and mixed tocopherols 200 IU. gratitude-gratitude if it contains tocotrienols, as recommended by Andreas Papas, Ph.D., a medical professor at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
Mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols are the components of natural vitamin E is not contained in the d-alpha tocopherol. “Simply put, the more complete type of the many benefits that we can,” said Papas. Whether or not the vitamin E is natural, there are several natural tocopherols and related compounds known as tocotrienols that also have health benefits. For example, while the vitamin E activity of alpha-tocotrienol is rated at 30% compared to alpha-tocopherol’s 100%, alpha-tocotrienol actually showed greater anti-tumor activity.
While natural and synthetic vitamin E were absorbed equally well through the digestive tract, the liver selected for the natural form over the synthetic: blood levels of natural vitamin E were consistently twice those of the synthetic form. A similar trend was found in the blood of 22 surgical patients given the half-natural, half-synthetic vitamin E supplements for up to six weeks and in two terminally ill patients given the supplements for one to two years. Tissue levels of natural vitamin E – based of organs removed during surgery – also increased compared with the synthetic. However, it appeared to take at least a year or two for the 2:1 natural-to-synthetic ratio to develop in tissues.

Remember Vitamin E doses
In many studies, which is always recommended dose of vitamin E is at least 100 IU per day. But some experts suggest that the optimum dose is 400 IU per day. According to recent surveys of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the intake of vitamin E by women 19 to 50 years of age averaged less than 90% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). Men of the same age had intakes close to 100% of the RDA. We need to remind ourselves that the RDA is an absolute minimum requirement, below which your body is actually in deficiency.
What is the health risk of too much vitamin E? The health risk of too much vitamin E is low. A recent review of the safety of vitamin E in the elderly concluded that taking vitamin E supplements for up to 4 months at doses of 530 mg or 800 IU (35 times the current RDA) had no negative side-effect on general health, body weight, levels of body proteins, lipid levels, liver or kidney function, thyroid hormones, amount or kinds of blood cells, and bleeding time.
